Welcome!

My daughter, Jazlyn, is anaphylactic to egg, dairy, peanuts, and tree nuts. When she was first diagnosed, I found it very difficult to find recipes and foods that didn't taste like "allergy" food. Over the last 15 years I have had a lot of fun developing and changing recipes so that they are safe for her. I love to share my recipes so that other families can realize how yummy "allergy" foods can taste. You don't have to sacrifice taste or your favorite foods, you just have to rethink how to make them. I made a promise to Jazzy that I would do my very best to find a way for her to eat any food she wants to try. So far I have been able to keep that promise. I hope your family enjoys these recipes as much as we do.

Egg Free, Dairy Free Baked Bread Wrapped Hot Dogs

This isn't a healthy meal, but it was just an idea for a quick dinner or lunch with fries, a vegetable, and/or baked beans. My girls loved them with fries and green beans.

Baked Bread Wrapped Hot Dogs

Spread dairy free margarine on one side of safe bread. Place the bread, margarine side down, on a foil lined baking sheet. Place a hot dog on the bread diagonally. Fold up one corner of the bread so it is laying on its side folded over the hot dog. Repeat for the amount you want. Bake at 450 for 15-20 minutes or until the bread is toasted and the hot dogs are cooked.
*  If desired, you can place a piece of safe cheese on top of the bread before the hot dog.

Egg Free, Dairy Free Baked Tortilla Wrapped Hot Dogs

These hot dogs comes together very fast and my family loves them. I make one sheet of these and one sheet of French fries. Quick and simple when I'm short on time.

Roll a hot dog into a small tortilla shell. (If you have medium tortilla shells, you can tear them in half. If you have large tortilla shells, you can tear them in fourths.) Place on a foil lined baking sheet with the seam side down. Repeat to create the amount you desire. Coat with cooking spray. Bake at 450 for 10-15 minutes or until the tortilla shells are crispy.
*  If desired, you can place a piece of safe soy cheese on the tortilla before placing on the hot dog.

Egg Free Dairy Free Baked Corn Dogs

While at Hersheypark, Jazlyn saw corn dogs and wanted them for her pick for supper. I made fried corn dogs before that were very good, but I wanted something easier and less messy to prepare. These were wonderful. Next time I'm going to make extra and freeze them.

Baked Corn Dogs

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp dairy free margarine, cut into pieces
1 cup soy milk mixed with 2 tbsp lemon juice, allow the mixture to set for 5 minutes to curdle
2 tbsp honey
10 safe hot dogs (I use Ballpark)

Combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Rub the margarine into the flour mixture with your hands until evenly distributed. Stir the honey into the soy milk-lemon juice mixture. Pour the honey mixture into the flour mixture then stir until thoroughly combined. Knead the dough on a floured surface 3-4 times. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rectangle or oval that is large enough for the hot dog to be enclosed inside. Center the hot dog in the center of the dough then wrap the dough around the hot dog, pinching the edges to seal. Place seam side down on a foil lined baking sheet. Bake at 450 for 8-10 minutes or until golden.

Egg Free, Dairy Free Pigs in a Blanket

My mom made these all of the time for us. Now my kids love them too. They freeze really well, so I always make a big batch so we have leftovers.

Pigs in a Blanket

2 cups baking mix (I use Bisquick)
12 safe hot dogs (I use Ballpark)
1/2 cup cold water

Combine the baking mix and cold water until thoroughly combined. Knead the dough until smooth. Shape a portion of the dough around each of the hot dogs. Place the hot dogs on a foil lined baking sheet. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes or until they are lightly browned.
*  You can leave the ends of the hot dog exposed or cover the hot dogs completely with the dough.
*  These Pigs in a Blanket really well and reheat in the microwave. However, they stay better in the freezer when the hot dogs are completely covered with the dough.

Egg Free, Dairy Free Creamy Hot Dogs and Noodles

If you like tomato soup, this would be a great meal to try. The soy milk will create a creamier sauce on the noodles, but the water also produces a good flavor. The first picture we used hot dogs and the second picture we used sliced smoked sausage.

Creamy Hot Dogs and Noodles

2 cans condensed tomato soup (I use Campbell's)
2 soup cans soy milk or water
1 box noodles, any shape desired, uncooked
6 hot dogs, cooked and diced OR 1/2 lb of any cooked and diced or sliced meat desired

Combine the soup and soy milk in a large saucepan. Add the dry noodles and hot dogs and thoroughly combine. Heat to a simmer and cook for 15-25 minutes or until the noodles are tender and the sauce has thickened, stirring frequently.
