A reminder to read labels every time

I read every label every time because I know they change. I'm not sure how it got by me, but the tub butter I always use now has milk. I'm glad I noticed it, but it's scary that it made it into the house.

Weis Quality 48% Vegetable Oil Spread (brown tub)
is now called
Weis Quality 51% Vegetable Oil Spread (same exact tub) and now contains whey.
It has a contains milk and soy statement, but I somehow missed it.

It's so scary that 1 little mistake can be a life or death mistake. I'm trying not to beat myself up about missing it, but I just keep thinking about what could have happened if I wouldn't have noticed the change. I'm also thanking God for keeping Jazlyn safe. It just goes to prove no matter how long you've been dealing with food allergies, you can never be too safe.

  1. its so scary! I always try to remember to read the ingredients every time, but it's so easy to get comfortable and i admit it that i don't always check, but it's something that i need to change asap. Glad you noticed it..

  2. Out of my three anaphylactic children, my youngest is the most severe. I bought a nut free, wheat free, egg free granola type bar and read the ingredients. I totally missed the sunflower seed butter and went into anaphylactic shock. Now she doesnt trust me and second guesses me ( not that I blame her) when I say that something is safe. She trusts my 12 year old daughter more :( I thank God everyday for them still being alive.

    I love all your recipes!

  3. Exactly why I shop by myself and it takes me so long... I check every time. Ugh... glad you discovered it before feeding it to her.
